There are 6 kinds of stones:
| | Fire Stone | | Water Stone |
| | Earth Stone | | Wind Stone |
| | Divine Stone | | Dark Stone |
Fire can be exchanged for Water and vice versa at NPC. NPC, who's in Aden near the forge, and in Rune. From the same NPC you can buy potions for resistance to all elements (they add +30). You can also exchange Earth-Wind and Divine-Dark. with each other
Attribute stones can be inserted into S-grade and S80 weapons and armor. When inserting, there's a chance the stone breaks and the attribute isn't added. As a rule, the chance to insert a stone is about 50%. On failure, the existing attribute isn't reset. There's also no risk of losing the weapon.
You can insert at most 150 attribute into a weapon and 240 attribute into an armor set (60 into each item. So a Draconic set or a Majestic/Arcana set can get 240 attribute, and IC — 300). 150 attribute in a weapon adds ~70% dmg in PvE and in PvP, provided the mob or character has no matching resist.
The first stone successfully inserted into a weapon adds 20 attribute. All subsequent ones add five. So to make 150 attribute you'll need ~60 stones, depending on luck. Inserting a stone into armor adds 6 attribute.
For fighters it doesn't matter which attribute to insert into the weapon. For archers, the main thing is to enchant their skills for the attribute that's in the weapon. Normal shots from an attributed weapon also become stronger.
With mages it's simple. Sorcerer - fire, SpS - water, SH - wind, Necro - dark. For an EE - holy, because she has the Inquisitor transformation, which gives a holy nuke, while all EE skills are unavailable. The SE has the same transformation, and so does the Bishop.
With the introduction of the attribute system, the first vortex given to the SpS and SH at level 76 becomes useless. Because you'll hit with it less than with Hydro Blast and Hurricane.
Surrenders are basically useless too. Unless the enemy has a resist to the matching attribute. For example, I'm a SpS, the enemy has an aqua resist on, and when I throw a surrender, it removes this resist. Otherwise it gives a very small bonus.
Now about armor.
Inserting Fire stone into armor gives resist water; inserting water - resist fire. It's the same opposition with the other stones (see the table).
Say we have 120 Resist fire and 120 Resist water in our armor, and we have two opponents - a Sorcerer and a SpS with weapons of 150 attribute.
Then the damage we take will be as if the enemy had 30 attribute and we had 0 resistance.
If you also buff aqua resist and fire resist (which give 20 attribute resistance each), the damage you take will be negligibly small. (in a word, buffs can also raise attribute resistance). Another small correction about the seed of water/seed of fire / seed of wind. buff. These skills are now used as 10-minute self buffs (cost 250 MP) and add 20 attribute.
Symphonies can now be used without charges, but their power is reduced, they consume a lot of MP and have a long reuse. Basically, while you don't have vortexes, they'll do, but overall they're useless skills.
After 150 attribute in the weapon, damage doesn't increase, so it makes sense for mages who are desperately short of money to insert 130 attribute and always buff Seed. on themselves. But it's still better to bring it to 150 and buff seed anyway (if the enemy suddenly has a resist on, it compensates for it).
The same applies, for example, if an archer has a bow with 150 holy; you can ask for the Holy Weapon buff. Now the most painful question.
Stone drops
Fire stones drop on Isle of Prayer, located next to Heine. You can get there only by swimming.
The peculiarity of this place is that there can be no more than two people in a party there. If we take a third into the party, even if he's somewhere in town, and start attacking a mob, two cats (Witch Warder's) immediately pop out of it, each with 21k HP. 1 hits with magic, the second with physical attacks. In short, these two cats each land 1 hit and we have two corpses.
If someone decides to train you, it's enough for them to take a third person into their party, run up to the mob you're hitting, and use any skill (better a weak one), and the cats will automatically re-aggro on whoever dealt more damage to the mob (i.e. on you). I usually used Surrender; it casts fast and deals no damage.
Stones drop fairly rarely. 1-2 per hour (that was my experience on Teon, though that island is overcrowded with bots and finding a free spot is simply impossible; maybe that's why stones dropped so often - the mob kill rate was high).
On this island all mobs resist water, weakness fire.
A Sorcerer needs two or three nukes per mob (if the weapon has no attribute), a SpS 5-6
There are some mobs with resist bow.
Earth/Wind Stone drop from the dragons' guards (Earth from level 82 Shade, level 82 Wind c Water Dragon Detractor) in Chromatics.
Originally it's Dark Water Dragon, an aggressive mob with about 100k HP and high PAtk. If you attack this dragon, Shade spawn - fairly harmless aggressive x1 mobs, demons.
After Dark Water Dragon is killed, another, white flying dragon spawns where it stood; it doesn't attack, and HP drops by itself. At the same time as it respawns, Water Dragon Detractor, also aggressive x1 demons, start spawning. They stop spawning when the flying dragon dies. But it can be healed with the Spirit of The Lake items that drop from Detractor.
Wind Stone also drop on Hellbound (a location available to 78+ characters), from level Chimera of Earth 84 mobs, level Desert Scorpion 84
Divine Stone. also drop on HB
The mobs there are very vicious; farming without an attribute is hard, especially for mages. Fighters can somehow manage. A mob hits a fully buffed mage for 2-3k. Besides, debuffs are applied there that eat HP at a crazy pace.
The stone drop isn't very pleasing... In 3-4 hours you can get ~1-2 for the whole party.
You can also get 1 stone of each element for free from NPC in Hellbound; they're given for raising Hellbound's level. (no trade/ no drop). More precisely, by taking the quest Matras Curiosity from NPC Matras. He's at the lake under Iron Castle on the map. Another peculiarity of these "stones" - they can't be exchanged for the opposite elements.
